Configuration and permissions are what I keep coming back to when people ask me why Klaviyo works for our organization. Three years of managing this platform for a small education nonprofit, and the role-based access setup has genuinely saved me headaches. I can give a part-time volunteer coordinator view access to specific lists without handing them the keys to our entire subscriber base. That granularity matters a lot when you're working with rotating staff and limited IT oversight. Setting up automations and flows is intuitive once you understand the logic, and the Shopify-adjacent architecture translates surprisingly well to our donor engagement workflows.
The one real friction point is the admin experience around billing and plan changes. When our contact list crossed a tier threshold mid-campaign season, the process for understanding what we'd owe and how to adjust felt opaque. I had to contact support to get clarity, and while they were helpful, that information should live somewhere obvious in the settings panel. For a nonprofit watching every dollar, that uncertainty is stressful. Still, the platform earns its place in our stack.
