Nobody warned me that tax compliance software could actually have a decent onboarding experience. Avalara proved me wrong. The implementation team walked my finance staff through AvaTax configuration in two focused sessions, and by the end of the first week we had our ERP integration talking to the platform without any major drama. For a non-profit with limited IT bandwidth, that matters enormously. CertCapture was especially straightforward to get going, and the guided setup documentation is genuinely readable rather than the usual wall of PDFs.
My one real gripe: the returns module took a bit longer to feel intuitive. There are a few menu paths that could be flatter. Customer support was responsive when I raised this, but the initial answers pointed me to articles I'd already read. Small frustration in an otherwise smooth start. I'm only about two months in, so I can't speak to the full annual cycle yet, but the foundation feels solid and I'm optimistic heading into our next filing period.
