Five years is a long time to rely on any tool this heavily, and Dext has never made me regret it. The thing I keep coming back to is how completely it changed the way I handle receipts and invoices while I'm away from my desk. Our rollout covered several hundred users across multiple offices, and the mobile experience is what sold the skeptics early on. Snap a photo, watch it extract the data, done. That sounds simple, but when you're approving expenses for a team that's constantly traveling, simple is everything.
The app has matured a lot since I first started using it. Early on there were occasional OCR misreads that needed correcting, and honestly that still happens sometimes with faded or crumpled receipts. Worth knowing if you're evaluating this. But the supplier rules have gotten sharp enough that most submissions now flow straight through to our accounting software without me touching them. I've opened Dext from airport lounges, hotel lobbies, and once from the back of a cab to clear a backlog before month-end close. It holds up.
For an enterprise rollout, the admin controls are solid. Permissions, cost categories, approval workflows: they all travel well to mobile too, which not every platform manages. Their support team has been responsive in my experience, though response times dipped a bit during a particularly messy onboarding wave a couple of years back. That's the only real friction I'd flag. If your firm is still chasing people down for paper receipts or relying on email threads to collect invoices, Dext is the fix you're looking for.
