Admin configuration is genuinely where Okta shines, and after managing it across a dozen client environments over the past five-plus years, I mean that without any reservation. The permissions model is deep. Granular group assignments, attribute-based access policies, conditional MFA rules that actually behave the way you'd expect them to. When I'm provisioning a new client tenant, I can structure their identity architecture in a way that would have taken weeks of custom scripting with anything else. The policy inheritance alone has saved me from so many painful manual overrides.
Managing multiple orgs from an agency context used to be a nightmare with other tools. Okta's admin console keeps things compartmentalized without being confusing. I can flip between client environments, audit access logs for one org without touching another, and push configuration changes that are consistent across the board. The lifecycle management workflows are where I spend most of my time, and they've matured noticeably over the years. Onboarding and offboarding flows that used to require third-party glue now live natively inside the platform. That matters a lot when you're accountable to clients who expect clean, documented access trails.
Customer support has occasionally been slower than I'd like, especially on edge cases involving SAML app integrations. A few tickets have dragged longer than they should. But honestly, that's a minor friction point against a platform that has been reliable enough that I stopped worrying about identity infrastructure as a category. If you're running a managed services shop and you need something you can genuinely configure to fit each client's quirks, this is the one.
