The pricing page actually made me feel good about signing up, which is not something I say often. At our size (just crossed 30 employees), most HRMS platforms either charge like we're a Fortune 500 or bury the real cost in add-ons you discover after the demo. BambooHR was upfront about what each tier included, and the per-employee model scaled in a way that made sense for a startup still hiring aggressively. Two months in, I'm satisfied with where the budget landed.
That said, payroll is a separate purchase, and it stings a little once you realize the base plan doesn't bundle it. For companies at our stage watching every dollar, that add-on cost adds up faster than expected. The core HR features, the onboarding workflows, time-off tracking, and the employee self-service portal, are all solid and I use them daily without frustration. If payroll were included at mid-tier, this would be an easy five stars. As it stands, four feels honest.
