Three years of daily Figma use and I still feel genuinely lucky this tool exists. The collaborative canvas, the component system, auto-layout, prototyping flows, all of it has quietly become the backbone of how my product design team ships work. What surprises people who haven't spent real time in it: the edge cases can be brutal. Complex nested auto-layout frames with mixed constraints start behaving unpredictably once you get past a certain depth. I've had shared libraries ghost-update components mid-sprint in ways that weren't immediately obvious to everyone working in the file.
Those moments are frustrating because everything else is so polished that you start trusting the tool completely, and then a specific edge hits. Their support documentation is thorough but tends to assume happy-path usage. If you're in a mid-size org with a lot of shared assets across many projects, plan for some trial-and-error on library governance. Still, for what it delivers day to day, I'd recommend it without hesitation to any product team seriously.
