Review Summary
Generated using AI from real user reviews
Actiondesk delivers solid permissions management and accessibility for non-technical users, though bulk operations remain a weak spot. Both reviewers gave it 4 stars, suggesting competent but not exceptional execution across the board.
Users praise the granular admin controls and role-based access that scale well in large organisations, plus the spreadsheet-familiar interface that lets non-technical staff configure workflows without IT involvement. Setup speed is noted as a strength — one user completed a full 360-feedback automation cycle in roughly a day. Data handling and export functionality also earn approval.
The main friction points center on operational efficiency and reporting depth. Bulk-editing user permissions remains tedious when organisations restructure frequently, forcing one-by-one updates. Reporting visualizations are described as basic; users needing richer analytics for pattern analysis across feedback groups end up exporting to separate tools. Notification customisation also requires workarounds rather than native flexibility.
Neither review reads as enthusiastic endorsement or cautionary tale. Both suggest Actiondesk fits mid-market to enterprise scenarios where permissions rigour and ease-of-use matter more than advanced analytics, but prospective buyers should test whether the reporting and bulk-operation limitations align with their workflow demands.

“Permissions management is what makes or breaks a feedback tool…”
Permissions management is what makes or breaks a feedback tool at enterprise scale, and Actiondesk genuinely gets this right. Five-plus years in, I still appreciate how granular the admin controls are. Role-based access, department-level visibility settings, custom form routing, it all holds up when you're juggling hundreds of users across multiple business units.
The one real frustration: bulk-editing user permissions is clunky. When org changes happen fast, updating roles one by one costs time you don't have. They've improved it, just not enough. Everything else keeps me recommending it to peers who are evaluating this category.

“We started using Actiondesk to streamline our 360-degree feedback cycles,…”
We started using Actiondesk to streamline our 360-degree feedback cycles, and I have to say it's been a refreshing change from the clunky enterprise tools we'd tried before. As someone without a technical background, the spreadsheet-based approach immediately felt familiar — I didn't need to rope in IT every time I wanted to tweak a workflow or adjust how feedback data was being aggregated.
Setting up the automation for collecting peer responses and routing manager summaries took maybe a day to get right, which is honestly impressive. The flexibility to map our existing feedback forms into the platform without needing custom code was a real selling point. I also appreciated that the data stays clean and easy to export for our quarterly review presentations.
That said, there are a few areas where I'd love to see improvement. The reporting visualizations are fairly basic — for 360 feedback specifically, you want richer charts that show patterns across rater groups, and right now we're exporting to a separate tool for that. Notifications and reminders for participants could also be more customizable; we had to build some workarounds to handle deadline nudges.
Customer support has been responsive and genuinely helpful when we've run into edge cases. Overall, Actiondesk punches above its weight for teams that live in spreadsheets and don't want to over-engineer their HR processes. I'd recommend it with the caveat that very complex feedback frameworks may need supplementary tooling.
