Review Summary
Generated using AI from real user reviews
The Hartford's insurance rating software delivers solid practical value for multi-line commercial underwriting, though it has some scaling limitations. Users appreciate how the unified platform handles general liability, auto, and property without constant switching between tools, along with integrated class code lookups and reliable real-time rates. The interface is manageable after an initial learning period, though new underwriters typically need about a week to become productive on complex workflows.
The main frustrations centre on batch processing performance during high-volume periods and slow responsiveness to requests for customizable reporting features. While the system has noticeably improved quote turnaround times compared to previous solutions, users note that month-end volume spikes can create noticeable slowdowns. The software works reliably for day-to-day rating, but those managing large submission queues or needing bespoke reporting options may encounter constraints worth evaluating against alternatives.

“The integrations are what won me over, and two years…”
The integrations are what won me over, and two years later they're still the reason I champion this platform to anyone who asks. Our underwriting department runs on a mix of tools, a policy management system, a CRM, and a document workflow layer, and The Hartford's rating software connects to all three without the usual patchy workarounds. Data flows in cleanly, quoted values push back out without manual re-entry, and my team stops noticing the software because it just fits into how they already work. That alone justifies the cost.
A few early hiccups with API token refresh timing caused some headaches in the first month, but their support team was genuinely responsive and helped us sort the configuration. Since then, stability has been excellent. The feature set covers everything a mid-market department needs, and the value relative to what we were cobbling together before is significant. If integrations across your existing stack are a priority, this one is worth a serious look.
